All entrants will be put in a hat and the winner will be drawn on Thursday morning 27th March – so please have a go this week.

Simon’s Triple Challenge – Number 2 (real post this time)

March 21, 2008 at 12:22 am (Challenge, Hidden Depths, Moo, Skinny) (, , , , , )

Right, having spent 2 days getting it how I wanted, I have to start again!!

I have made a slight change to the challenge: there will still be three themes – but you will get to choose which of the themes you want to use.

The projects stay the same:

 Moo Cards

Skinny Cards

Hidden Depths

(Check out the first challenge for details)

The themes this week all begin with the letter P

PASSION

PRESENTS

&

PUNCTUATION

You can explore these with whatever techniques and products you have.

Here are my samples:

Moo Cards – Punctuation

Punctuation Moos

The bases of these were scraps of SEI papers from other projects.  I used CACTUS PINK chipboard for the embellishments.  Two are finished with pearly embossing powder, the question mark is ink followed by Glossy Accents.  All very simple to do and a great way to use up scraps.

Skinny Cards – Presents and Passion

Skinny - Presents

The Present skinny is a piece of purple/red card stock with an overall stamped design to look like wrapping paper.  I then tied some thin ribbon and attached a stamped tag – simple – but effective – I hope.

Skinny - Passion

The Passion skinny is Parisian Passion.  I stamped a couple of images from a Crafty Individuals stamp.  The card is embellished with torn strips of paper, a brad and a length of velvet ribbon.  Quite rich and passionate – I thought!

Hidden Depths – Purple Passion

Outside of Passion HD

Another bit of thrifty crafting.  I cut the base from the cover of my SEI pink and purple pad and altered the outside with Dusty Concord and Worn Lipstick distress inks.  I added a metallic Prima flower for texture.

Inside of Passion HD

The inside is three panels of UTEE over inks – the middle panel has a Craft Individuals dragonfly stamp and the right hand panel has a Drama Queen tag.

Something a bit different.

I hope you enjoy playing and look forward to seeing the results

Birthday Envelope Book Sample

March 19, 2008 at 3:55 pm (Birthday Project)

In order to give you a better idea of what this project involves, here is a sample envelope and insert.

I have rather gone to town with decorating it – you don’t need to go quite so mad!

I started by taking my envelope and using distress inks and glimmer mists to take away the whiteness.

I then took a sheet of new Basic Grey Sultry 6×6 paper (which arrived this morning!) and used them to cover the front (in 2 in strips)

Envelope Front

New Front(this is the revised front  – I didn’t like the dragonfly and so I added an address plate, some flowers and a bow!)

The Envelope flap is covered in another piece of paper – just attached with DST.  I inserted a piece of card into the envelope (having first done a bit of inking and stamping) just to cover that gap.

 Envelope Back

The insert is just  a piece of card with inks and stamps – it could be further decorated or just left blank ready for a message.

Birthday Envelope Books

March 17, 2008 at 11:19 am (Birthday Project) (, , )

Following the huge success of the birthday circle books last year, I thought we should find another way of celebrating our birthday and raising money for our charity – the Lymphoma Association.

This year, we will be making our books from decorated envelopes

There will be three sizes:

* DL
* C5
* C6

The themes this year are:

* Messy and Grungey
* Going Postal
* Love Letters
* A Blast from the Past
* Floral Memories
* Nature’s Wonders
* Seaside Fun
* Childhood
* Bugs and Critters

Each theme can be made in each size of envelope – so we could get three books for each theme!

And as with last year there will be teams of 6-8 people (who will elect a leader who will also be responsible for making up the books )

Each team member will obtain an envelope of the right size and cut a piece of card that is 10mm smaller on each dimension than the envelope.

The team will decide whether the envelopes are to be bound together in a landscape or portrait fashion (so that they all work together in the book)

And then you just decorate away – both the card insert and the envelope

Everything is to be sent to your chosen team leader by the published date – ready for the auctions….

Launch Date:  Monday 17th March

Sign-Up by:  Sunday 30th March

Teams Allocated:  Tuesday 1st April

Team Leaders Selected:  Friday 4th April
